(ATHENS, Ohio) - Ohio Wrestling was ranked fourth in the Mid-American Conference Pre-Season Poll, the conference announced Friday. The Bobcats were predicted to finish ahead of Buffalo and Eastern Michigan. At the top of the rankings were Central Michigan and Kent State. Full rankings as follows:
1) Central Michigan (28) 2) Kent State (26) 3) Northern Illinois (16) 4) Ohio (13) 5) Buffalo (12) 6) Eastern Michigan (5)A first-place vote was worth four team points; a second-place vote earned three team points; third-seeded votes were worth two team points and a fourth-place tally earned one point.
The Bobcats were well-represented in the individual rankings, with six wrestlers making the top-four list in their respective weight classes. Germane Lindsey (Cincinnati, Oh.) was picked second in the 141 lb class; Clay Tucker (Martins Ferry, Oh.) was picked third in the 157 lb class; Jacob Ison (Batavia, Oh.) was selected second in the 174-lb class; Nick Purdue (Genoa, Oh.) was tabbed to go fourth in the 184-lb class; Erich Schuth (Spencerport, N.Y.) was estimated to finish third in the 197-lb class and Andy Hartshorn (Reynoldsburg, Oh.) rounds out the heavyweights with his predicted third-place finish.
The Bobcats will host their annual Green and White Intra-Squad scrimmage on Sunday at 1 pm in the Convocation Center.
