(ATHENS, Ohio) - Ohio Wrestling is geared up to begin the 2009-10 season with the annual Green and White Intra-squad meet. The meet will be held on Sunday, November 1. It will begin at one pm, which is just after the 2009 Ohio University Fall Wrestling Clinic is completed. The wrestlers will host an autograph session between the completion of the clinic (9 am - 12 pm) and the start of the Intra-squad meet.
There are some pretty exciting matchups on tap for the Green and White teams this season. Representing the Green team in the 125 lb class will be Jake Wojcik, who squares off against Gabe Ramos of the White team. Ramos compiled a 9-12 record while wrestling unattached for the Bobcats last year.
The 133 lb class will see a matchup between Michael Fennell (Green) and Quentin Keyes (White). Keyes had a great season for the Bobcats last year, posting an 18-14 record.
Green’s Germane Lindsey will square off against White’s Darrin Boing in the 141 lb class. Lindsey was 10-9 last year and placed fourth at the MAC Championships. Boing had a pretty solid 2008-09 season as well, going 8-3 at 141 lbs in his redshirt freshman season.
The 149 lb bout will be between Seth Morton (Green) and Kevin Christensen (White). Morton finished last season with a 13-14 record, competing in both 141 and 149 lb classes. Christensen posted a 3-12 competition record last season.
Clay Tucker (Green) and Kyle Lang (White) will go head-to-head in the 157 lb class. Tucker led Ohio in victories last season with his stellar 21-16 record.
Green’s Kyle Dilley will square off against White’s Steve Wilson in the 165 lb class. Wilson went 4-15 last season for the Bobcats and placed fifth in the freshman/sophomore division at the Michigan State Open.
Redshirt senior Jacob Ison (Green) will compete with Josh Kassil (White) in the 174 lb class. Ison’s 2008-09 season was cut short due to injury, but he managed to post an impressive 10-3 record. He went undefeated at the Indiana Hoosier Duals and was at one point ranked as highly as 19th in the nation.
Brian Driscoll (Green) and Nick Purdue (White) will face one another in the 184 lb bout. Purdue posted an 18-13 record last season, which tied him for second-most wins on the team.
Erik Schuth (Green) and Kyle Sanders (White) will battle in the 197 lb class on Sunday. Scuth went 12-6 last season for the Bobcats and finished 3-1 in MAC duals.
The final bout of the day will be between heavyweights Jeremy Johnson (Green) and Andy Hartshorn (White). Hartshorn posted a 13-14 record last year and placed fourth in the MAC Championships.
After the Intra-squad meet, the team will travel to the Hokie Open on November 8.
